Tiger Canyon

If you drive up Mill Creek Road, you hit Oregon (this geography confuses me to this day) and if you keep going on the dirt road that indicates Oregon, you run into the Umatilla National Forest, specially forest service road 65 (sharp right off Mill Creek Road... if you run into the gate for the watershed, you've gone too far). This road, opened seasonally, winds up the beautiful hillside to the Tiger Canyon area.

It has lots of woods, some fields, and some not so marked trails. The most well known trailhead in the area is the South Fork of the Walla Walla River trailhead which connects to Harris Park (another geographical marvel in my book). That's about 7 miles up the road. There are tons of other areas to explore too. Just be aware of hunting season and make sure you and any animals are visibly marked.

There's not a lot of water up there, but a great creek is at the bottom of tiger canyon about a half mile from the gate. Great place for pups to cool off!
